This tour took me some very varied places. It was interesting to explore the rural parts of these beautiful countries. However no camera was brought on this trip, so I hope my words will be vivid enough to make the story enjoyable. The story starts in Medellin , where I lived in an apartment in the Laureles neighborhood. I had recently acquired a Colombian driver's license and was ready for some serious riding.

Across New York State and the country, sweatpants became classtime-wear and living rooms morphed into dance studios as college professors took on remote teaching. For some, it meant juggling kids and a partner, while others struggled with loneliness. We asked instructors from schools all around the state to send in pictures of what virtual classroom life looked like for them, and to share their thoughts on the experience as it was happening. They described a flood of emotions, how their classes responded and how they sought to address the new challenge. I worry that I am becoming increasingly isolated, too. The very idea of that mysterious mythical creature known as work-life balance—who always seemed to be just out of reach—vanished entirely in an instant. We have gathered here around a cyber version of a bonfire on the beach, from different corners of South America we now call home, or from even farther away. Our tales of travel adventures are as numerous as the leaping flames. But soon, the conversation turns to the best small towns in South America and the disbelief that not everyone around the fire has visited them. No, not the large metropolises and major tourist resorts or landmarks, but the lesser-known, small villages that travelers might miss on their sojourn through the continent.
I visited a coffee plantation and the Valle de Cocora. Random guy from Sweden I befriended. The last few days I did needed things like teaching my last classes, closing my bank account, buying last-minute souvenirs, etc. Best Colombian friends!
