The following represents a first effort at creating an inventory of the wide variety of connections that exist between members of our community and South Africa. Maurianne Adams adams educ. The goal of this collaborative approach to intergroup education is to build a social justice curriculum, appropriate to the South African context, that enables participants to challenge and change their beliefs and behaviors regarding their social differences.

I remember the day my mom died. I was wrapped up tight in my Princess Jasmine sleeping bag at the foot of her bed as she slept delicately next to my grandmother. I woke up the next morning in a panic on the floor of my own bedroom, still zipped in my sleeping bag, while my dad slept on my bottom bunk. When I got up and ran for the door my dad suddenly awoke.
She was thoroughly scared of needles. No child likes needles, but most only see them on trips to the pediatrician. For Jeanne, it was different. Maybe it was her sensitive temperament: she calls herself inherently shy.
Time does not speed up and jump ahead like it does when you are with friends.
